Nothing new to report but lots of work being done as the team continues to prep the Garden for planting. With the expanded garden the team can also use a few more hands to help out. Interested? Perhaps you know someone who might be. Let us know. Questions or comments? Email: gr617@aol.com or call the parish office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Last week the meditation for the 9th day of Divine Mercy from the diary of St Sr Faustina, spoke of the pain Jesus suffered in the Garden of Olives because of “lukewarm” souls and the reason He asked that the cup be removed if it was the will of the Father. ( divinemercydaily@marian.org ) Who might these “lukewarm” souls be? Perhaps we are one and don't realize it. Do we go to Mass because we have to or the socially “the thing to do”. Maybe we look for excuses not to participate and do other things. Do we receive the Eucharist because everyone is expected to participate even though we may not believe it is really the Body and Blood of Christ. (why don't you believe and have you passed that disbelief to your children?) Do we let secular or world activities take priority over going to Mass? How do we “feel” about taking time to ensure our children learn and participate in the Sacraments especially after Confirmation? Do they know their post Confirmation responsibilities? Do we lead by example or by command (or lack of both)? Do we leave our “faith” in the Church and never express it at home? These are only a few of the many ways we can be “lukewarm” in our faith. Spend some time to really think about it and what will take to change from lukewarm to be on fire for God. That said, there are many individuals and families obviously faith filled. It is encouraging is to see young families with their children walking up the aisle to receive Christ and the seriousness and belief they show on their faces and in their actions. No question why they are so special to God. To those of you who are on fire for God, are you available to reach out and encourage those who are not? Recall what we have been taught: Put GOD first; be Catholic. Reflect the light of our Lord to all those you encounter. We pray God bless you and prosper all you do in His name.
