Providing a Catholic education to children is a mission of every parish. For parishes with Catholic schools, the Pastor calls together a Parish School Board of Education to assist him and the Principal in the operation of the School through collaboration and their advisory/consultative role. Areas of responsibility include: Communication, Strategic Planning, Development, Marketing and Recruiting.
Members are appointed by the Pastor to three year terms after consultation with the Principal and the remaining School Board members. Members should be practicing Catholics and members in good standing with the Catholic Church. They may or may not have students in the school, but must have a great respect for Catholic education and the desire for providing a Catholic education to the children of the parish. A certain level of discretion is needed as at times sensitive topics are discussed. A Code of Ethics is signed by all members of the Board to assure all members understand the importance of their role.
