Math: Math so far has been review of material they covered in kindergarten. We have been going to the computer lab on Mondays and Fridays to work on our addition skills by using Math Flash.

Reading: We are off to a good start in our reading program. Your child will bring home their hard back readers on Mondays. Please have them read the story to you. Remember to sign the sheet and have them return their books on Tuesday. Please do not read past the story we are on for the week. You may have them reread any of the previous stories. Any small books that are sent home please have your child read them several times. Remember to sign and return them the following day.

Phonics: We have worked on the letters P, T, Z, L, and N.We are working on long and short A and I.

Spelling: Our first spelling test will be next Friday. The spelling lists will come home on Mondays. The words will correspond with our Phonics lessons.

Religion: We will be working all year long on a religion program called ABC I Believe. It uses a different animal or insect each week that teaches a lesson on Proverbs and different Bible passages. The lessons have a writing activity and craft project that reinforce these lessons. In our religion series we have covered the Holy Trinity.On Fridays we have a series called Promise. These packs go over the Gospel readings for Sunday’s Mass.
