Apples provided us with plenty of
activities this week. We learned about
Johnny Appleseed and heard several fun stories about how apples grow. We
practiced color words while reading and coloring Apples, Apples, Apples. Using an apple, we compared its weight to the
weights of a variety of classroom objects.

In this week’s chapter, the children
learned that during Ordinary Time in the Church we celebrate the lives of the
saints. Many new saints were introduced
including St. Peter, St. Patrick, St. Martin dePorres,
St. Katherine Drexel, and our favorite St. Joseph.

Apple is the keyword for our new
letter Aa. Many new words can now be made by using the
short Aa sound to previously
learned letters. The sight word “the”
has been introduced. Attached you will
find a list of sight words that will be introduced throughout the year. Please cut the cards apart, save them, and
use them to reinforce sight words each week.
Color words are also being introduced as sight words. Your child should recognize red, yellow,
blue, green, and orange.

favorite activities include playing dress-up and school and spending time at
the pool with her friends. Her favorite
color is pink.

This week we talked about making
choices, both individually and in a group.
The students practiced making choices as a group in class and acting
