CLASSES

READING: We are at the end of Unit 1. The students will be reviewing vocabulary words, comprehension, index and glossary skills. With all of their reading stories we will first go over the vocabulary words and then read the story. For the vocabulary words we will go over them in class. Students will be playing a matching game. We will talk about each word and students will have a crossword puzzle to do and write a sentence using each word. We will do an activity or project that has to do with the story to reinforce it and make sure they understand what the story is about. They will then take a quiz on the story. Before every quiz they will listen to the story one more time on a CD. Unit 1 Test will be on Thursday September 25tha and Friday, September 26th.  

 

SCIENCE: We are on Chapter 2 Animals. In this chapter we are learning about how animals survive and the different types of animals. We will be doing a variety of worksheets, activities, and projects for this chapter. Before every test we will play a review game. Chapter 2Test will be on

 

SOCIAL STUDIES: We are on Chapter 1. In this chapter we will talk about communities and what makes up a community. We will be doing a variety of worksheets, activities, and projects for this chapter. Chapter 1 Test will be on Thursday, September 25th.

 

ENGLISH: We are on Chapter 2. In this chapter we will talk about nouns, common and proper nouns, and singular and plural nouns. We will be doing a variety of worksheets, activities, and projects for this chapter. Chapter 2 Test will be on

 

MATH: We are on Chapter 2. In this chapter we will learn about rounding numbers and then adding and subtracting them.  We will be doing a variety of worksheets, activities, and projects for this chapter. Before every test we will play a review game.

 

RELIGION: We are on Chapter 4. In this chapter we will talk about the beginning of church and Pentecost.  We will be doing a variety of activities and projects. Chapter 4 Test will be on Tuesday, September 30th.

 

Handwriting: We will start with printing and then get into cursive.

 

Homework: Anytime students are given homework, they are given time in class to start the assignment. I do this so if the students have any questions then they can ask me at this time. If students do not bring their homework in, it will be late and points will be taken off.

 

Test: All test dates are subject to change. Most of the time the test will be pushed back. I will let the students and update the website so everyone knows far enough in advance. The day before each test I take that time with the students and we play a review game.

 

 

 

 

September Trivia

 

For the month of September we are doing Back to School trivia. Students have a chance to answer a trivia question about school. The first three correct answers that I draw out will get to pick out of the treasure box and get a classroom dollar. I will pick out the rest of the names and the ones that are correct will get a classroom dollar. I change the Back to School Trivia question just about every two days.
